{"id":438,"date":"2012-09-19T19:39:12","date_gmt":"2012-09-19T18:39:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.steamage.co.uk\/wp1\/?p=438"},"modified":"2012-09-19T23:37:21","modified_gmt":"2012-09-19T22:37:21","slug":"profile-of-s15-e828","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.steamage.co.uk\/wp1\/profile-of-s15-e828\/","title":{"rendered":"Profile of S15 E828"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Built by the Southern Railway in 1927 under Maunsell, but essentially to Urie&#8217;s design for the LSWR, S15 4-6-0 locomotive no 828 spent her life pulling anything and everything all over the Southern system, from pick-goods to express freight to summer specials for the holidaymakers. Rescued from the scrapyard by the <a title=\"ERPS Web Site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.erps.co.uk\/\">Eastleigh Railway Preservation Society<\/a>, she was restored to full health, and spent the 1990s pulling mainline excursions and working on the Swanage Railway. Locations include Salisbury, Lockerley, East Grimstead (on the Hants. &#8211; Wilts. boarder) and Crampmoor, near Romsey.\n\t\t\t\t<\/dd><\/dl><dl class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<dt class='gallery-icon landscape'>\n\t\t\t\t<a href='https:\/\/www.steamage.co.uk\/wp1\/profile-of-s15-e828\/salis_britannia\/'><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/www.steamage.co.uk\/wp1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/salis_britannia-150x150.jpg\" class=\"attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail\" alt=\"\" aria-describedby=\"gallery-1-444\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/dt>\n\t\t\t\t<dd class='wp-caption-text gallery-caption' id='gallery-1-444'>\n\t\t\t\t1994: 1) Test run from Didcot to Derby on a very windy day, 23rd March. Just one location, on the outskirts of Derby, was usable. \r\n2) London &#8211; Andover &#8211; Salisbury &#8211; Southampton &#8211; London, 15th May. Locations: Farnborough, Andover, Salisbury and Winchester \r\n3) The Exe Parrett (!): Bristol &#8211; Yeovil &#8211; Exeter &#8211; Bristol (if I remember&#8230;) 8th Oct. Seen leaving Southampton Docks and north of Rowlands Castle. \r\n2) Not sure where the tour started or finished, but it included the line from Salisbury to Westbury, 23rd Sept. My first S-VHS camera was beginning to feel its age by this time &#8211; I have removed most of the glitches, but there are still a couple of flashes remaining. The new camera, also S-VHS, makes quite a difference, with better definition and stronger yellows and greens. \r\n2) Yeovil &#8211; Castle Cary shuttles, 5th October.
