Songer’s Copse Debut at Folk Weekend: Oxford

Saturday 15th April 2023, 2:15 pm

The Pitt Rivers Museum, South Parks Rd, Oxford, OX1 3PP

“What is Songer’s Copse?” You may well ask. An internet search might lead you to a quiet corner of Wytham Woods on the western edge of Oxford, close to the old road to Cheltenham, known as The Singing Way.

It’s also the name of a new 4-bloke a capella singing group, made up of Three Pressed Men and a gentleman, with a repertoire ranging from Purcell to Cyril Tawney via West Gallery hymns, Hoagy Carmichael and a large dollop of the English tradition.

Our first public performance will be in the gallery of the marvelous Pitt Rivers Museum, as part of Folk Weekend: Oxford.
